Verizon (VZ) is hated by everybody, but if you’re looking for a high-yield stock (safe but without a whole lot of price appreciation in all probability) with consistent dividend increases, Verizon will get the job done for your portfolio. I own it in my Dividend Portfolio and love the yield. If you’re not looking to sell anytime soon, have the patience to put up with short-term downturns, and want someplace to put money right now that’s like cash, collect Verizon’s 6% dividend.
