While I was calculating (finally) the much delayed performance numbers for my Dividend Portfolio for 2018 and 2019, I thought I’d use the momentum to do the numbers for 2020 to date.
For 2018, as I reported, the portfolio lost 15.52% and showed a dividend yield of 3.60%.
For 2019, the total return was a much better 4.56% gain and the dividend yield 4.90%.
For 2020 as of the close on December 1, the total return for the portfolio was 14.19%. The dividend yield, so far, works out to 2.96%. That’s deceptively low, however, since most of the stocks in the portfolio haven’t completed their dividend payments for the year.
