Kinross Gold has merged its way from junior to senior status but it’s still small enough to get a buyout bid in the rapidly consolidating gold mining industry. That gives an investor a second way to score on this inflation play. Of course, if the company doesn’t get bought out the story is still very profitable–especially if you’re willing to wait until the big increases in production kick in during 2008 and later. (Full disclosure: I own shares of Kinross Gold in my personal portfolio.)
