God isn’t making any more land and in the United States nobody is building anymore transcontinental railroads. That gives the existing four transcontinental railroads control of the exceedingly lucrative and fast growing business of shipping bulk freight–coal, timber and grain from the U.S. heartland to ports on the West Coast that serve the growing markets of China and the rest of Asia.
