TUR has some great stocks to own but having the basket is a lot less risky.

I think something everyone should be looking at as well is the huge possible currency swing we could see. 35% swing from here in the next 1-2 years could happen. This would be huge positive.

Many companies in Turkey price debt in US dollars...

Jim- thanks for another fine article.

As you point out in your book- I believe at the end of every chapter- there always are perfectly reasonable ways for small investors to take advantage of your "wind at your back" global ideas, and you did mention it again here:

international, emerging market, international and emerging small cap, regions (Asia tigers, for instance) and specific countriy regular old mutual funds and ETFs.

Any investor can build a perfectly suitable, highly diversified core portfolio using these vehicles (along with the domestic counterparts) with any amount of exposure and any mix of risk level that they desire.

I know you prefer stocks, but then you are Jim Jubak...and we are not! After putting together a core portfolio of mutual funds of (almost) every stripe- weighted up to maybe 60% international offerings- folks could then add- on a very selective basis (as you point out)- the international Jubak Picks that they can afford. Then no one has to miss the next decade.

[I agree with post on small cap value funds, and I have personally done quite well with these, especially the international and emerging market varieties- over the last decade.]
