Thanks for the analysis Jim. I have compared these two several times in the past year and I always land on T, but barely. I don't think my kids generation will EVER have a landline and I know quite a few people my age getting rid of them as well. The recession has no doubt accelerated this trend. You don't even need them for alarm systems anymore. I only own T for the dividend, which may grow a bit and yields more than most high quality bonds. Do you think either T or VZ will ever really show any real growth in the long run? I am doubtful. These both seem like they will be range bound for a long time.

Hi Jim,
Verizon is doing fiber optic cable to the home, but AT&T is doing it too (U-Verse). Do you have any numbers on the size of that investment for AT&T and any estimate on what that will do to their bottom line?

Jim...
Another factor, although I don't know how large because I don't know what kind of market share they are claiming, is the land line switch to cable. Almost everyone I know has done this, or as you suggest gone totally wireless.

What are your thoughts about Verizon selling the old product (landlines-May 09 14 states) there won't be anything for the cannibals?

I don't think either stock has explosive growth potential though, is there a BRIC version of verizon or ATT?
